My Philosophy

As a trained counselor, I integrate my counseling and policy skills into how I frame my work. I value the framework of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Person-Centered, and Interpersonal Process. I also bring a multicultural and social justice approach to working with all populations. Therefore, I work from a strengths-based perspective to thoroughly understand the context and assist with developing solutions. My primary experiences have been with students in the urban K-12 setting in the U.S., college students, and a few rural school districts. I also worked in secondary schools in Barbados, W.I. and London, U.K. Students were from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, and primarily students of color.

I provide individuals with real-life applications and case studies, personal anecdotes from my experiences as a counselor, or related text. At the core, I am merely a facilitator, a match in a sense, igniting individuals to take risks and operate from their strengths.
